but given the political and cultural climate, I thought rather than just tick off some title that maybe I stole from my mother's shelf, maybe I'd speak out in favor of kids getting a hold of things they are too young for and learning things parents have a hard time talking about. Maybe I wouldn't be a writer without it.

What is something from your childhood that you love to this day?
-Love/hate watching disability content in movies and TV-Still sometimes feel like a failure for not being an inspiring optimist like the ideal sitcom crips of my youth, but it's not like I could put up my own little snarky videos during my childhood(born 1973) Not sure I'd have done it; my reaction to being stared at it middle school to my regret, was to be a people-pleasing goody-goody.
I read fast and learned to type when I was four because my parents got tired of taking dictation of all my crazy ideas.(I'm disappointed about where I am as a writer partially because it sometimes feels like I've had a forty-year career already. America loves prodigies, not that I quite clear the bar, there.

May. 8th, 2023 11:41 amA blog questionnaire got me thinking today. A lot of my tech experience, as fun and exciting and From The Future as it can be at its best, involves my losing things. I just found out that some of my most-read at one time essays aren't online anymore, but sometimes things get lost because I don't keep up.I don't know what to do when it's time to update and things like that, so it doesn't happen.Thought I had a printer problem, but got some advice and I'm just not very smart about printers. By the time I figure this one out, I'll probably have a new one anyway, or they won't make paper or something...sometimes it is hard on my self-concept how fast I went from trying to be cool to trying not to be hopelessly lost. sigh.
(And I was hoping for some happier Memories than those that populated LJ, which, mixed bag.)
Saved some things now I may want to look back on, but may be completely wrong.

May. 6th, 2023 12:06 pmto finish watching "A Time To Kill"(Multiple sessions, over years, starting with a botched "BlockBuster night" back when,)that I went from being seriously engaged by its morality play to appreciating it for finding its corniness and stars chewing up the courtroom restful.(I've changed a lot, and they mostly show that one late at night, so when I fell asleep, was not sure if it was me or the movie. Both? It's weird to watch something that it...kind of thinks it's very deep and complicated while I'm thinking how very black-and-white(Ha!) the whole flick is.
Felt weird to start the Pelican Brief last night thinking two dead justices as almost a good start.(I did go to sleep before finishing that one this time, but I finished it once.)
